What are the following steps after my down payment has been received?
- After receiving the down payment, we will send you an email with your login details for your personal online “My Americans Overseas” portal.
- There is a tax organizer available in the portal in which you can enter all the data required for the tax return and upload the required documents.
- We recommend that you provide all documents as soon as possible because of turn around times. As the year progresses the waiting times will increase. (If you renounced your US citizenship in 2019, you will receive an additional form so that we can arrange your final filing (Form 8854).)
- As usual, the filing will be offered to you as a draft when it is ready. After approval and payment of the invoice, we will send you the final return.
What is the price of an annual filing?
You can click this link to see the rates that Americans Overseas charges for the tax return for 2019. We are happy that, despite the changed requirements, we were able to keep the prices the same as last year. We do, however, charge a one-off € 49.50 administration fee per assignment since January 2020.
Is your situation completely different than last year? For example, have you started a BV, sold property or have a trust fund? Let me know and I will be happy to take a look at a quotation together with you.
Why am I not getting a personal quote?
We have a very large number of returns that have to be processed in a short time, together with the request for information about voluntary disclosures by US Persons. In addition, we would like to offer the services as competitively as possible and we have opted for this approach that is common for American tax return practices. If you have any questions, we will of course be happy to help.
I gave up my citizenship in 2019, making 2019 the last year that I am going to make a declaration. What do I have to take into account?
In addition to your normal US declaration, you must also submit Form 8854. With this form you can end your filing obligation. Our tax expert will prepare this for you.
When do I have to hand in all my documents at the latest for the 2019 tax return to Americans Overseas?
If all your information has been fully uploaded before 1 May 2020, we will do our utmost to deliver your tax return before the deadline of 15 June 2020.
What If I don’t make the deadline?
No problem, we will request a delay for you at the IRS and you will receive a postponement until 15 October. We would appreciate to receive an update from you so that we can schedule for you.
I am still working on my Streamlined Procedure up to and including tax year 2018. Do I now also have to start my declaration of 2019?
The Streamlined Procedure can only be submitted with tax years that have already expired, tax year 2019 expires on 15 May 2020. If you wish to submit your Streamlined Procedure before 15 May, you must submit your tax return up to and including tax year 2018 before 15 May 2020 and, in parallel, submit your 2019 tax return before 15 June 2020.
